Many title X600 as a 9600 of PCI Express. In many senses this analogy is understandable. Take a look at our HIS Excalibur 9600 XT Turbo review and notice how similar the two cards are on the outside. Specs are not that much far apart as well. Perhaps two of the main things that differ are the integrated support for PCIE inside the ATi's X600 VPU (Visual Processing Unit) and the fact that X600 doesn't support Overdrive like the 9600 XT did. Pipeline counts, memory bus width, shaders etc. remain the same.
