One of the facts of digital storage is that hard drives do fail. Every now and then they just break down, and when they do, it's always a bit too late to think if you've remembered to take back ups of all the important files. For smaller amount of files one can use very cheap thumb drives or DVDs, but for most an external hard drive is a good choice. For added security and also extra functionality it's often nice for the drive to be connected to the home network - this is where Network-attached Storage, or NAS-boxes come in.

The models vary from very simple one-disc boxes to actual servers with large RAID-arrays. The unit we have for a review this time sits somewhere in the middle - offering enough storage for most home users, and also the ever-so-important RAID1-functionality for added redundancy. Now lets see how easy it is to make sure you will never lose the holiday photos again!
