Silverstone Fortress FT02 - Silent and very stylish system enclosure

So then, as you'd expect, the temperatures are pretty much identical with the Raven. The only consistent difference here is that the hard drive ran a couple of degrees hotter in the Fortress than it did in Raven. This can be explained by the position of the disc, as it was installed to the front-most, and thus hottest, hard drive bay.

The CPU-temperatures, on the other hand, are two degrees lower, and I'd expect this to be caused by the more powerful 120 mm fan sucking hot air from the CPU-area. As a performance conclusion none of these differences make any difference in real life use.

As you'd expect, the noise characteristics are very similar to the Raven 2. Silverstone does use a slightly more powerful exhaust fan on the Fortress 2, but I for one couldn't really hear the difference. Besides, the 120 mm fan usually gets connected to the motherboard fan controller and ran just as slowly as one wishes. Overall the 180 mm fans still are as quiet as ever and I can recommend the Fortess 2 to everyone looking for a quiet case.

The Raven 2 was a good case, and the Fortress just seems to improve it even further. Most importantly the problems with the hard drive cage are now gone, and I for one find the aluminum uni-frame so much better looking than the Raven's bezels. There's a bit of noise dampening foam in the case, but there's hardly noticeable difference in the noise. That said, the Raven was already quiet enough and the Fortress 2 should please the silence enthusiasts even more.
