Just a few weeks back we reviewed the Silverstone GD03 HTPC-case and despite some flaws, liked it. Since then Silverstone has already come up with a new model - GD04. It obviously sits in the same product range and indeed is similar in many ways, but we still felt it differed enough to be also reviewed.

Previously we've given cons to a number of HTPC-cases for being damn deep. Especially now that flat screen TVs and projectors are the weapon of choice for home theater people, the TV-stands and equipment racks are commonly pretty shallow. The usual AV-amplifiers and blu-ray players fit to these racks no problem, but a HTPC-case closer to half a meter deep doesn't fit in the same rack quite as smoothly. In the GD04 this detail has gotten special attention and the case is just over 30 centimeters deep. Lets see how this was achieved.

The bundle includes the manual, screws, cable ties, an aluminum front bezel for the optical drive, a fan adapter for up to three fans with 3-pin power connector and some small rubber feet for the PSU installation. The case doesn't come with a lcd screen or remote controller, but again there are plenty of models in Silverstone's range of HTPC-cases that come with those features.
