The Verbatim USB 3.0-drive is enclosed in a very subtle and classy looking black case. The sides and top are metal, whereas the front bezel is made of gloss black plastic. In the center of the front panel there's a green power-led and on the top is the manufacturers' logo.

Looking at the rear there's the power switch and connector for the external 12 V PSU, and of course the single USB 3.0-port. On the other end is a ventilation hole.

Also the bottom is ventilated with numerous holes. Modern desktop hard drives are more energy efficient than drives just a couple of years back, so overheating is no longer such a problem as it used to. These ventilation holes combined with the metal casing should be enough to keep the hard drive at reasonable temperature.
