Will it fit?

Particularly with Ultra, the were some problems to get the card fit inside some of the system enclosures. I'm happy to report that the GT model should not have these problems. Card is very compact and this feeling is further enchanced with the single slot design.

Conclusion

PROS
  • Calculating power
  • Price (stock 8800GT)
  • Dimensions
  • One slot cooling solution
  • Low Noise

  • CONS
  • Availability
  • Award

I have to say that this is the MUST card to have. XFX made a great job with the bundle and by factory overclocking the card. Sure, one can overclock the card relatively easily but with a pre overclocked card, one always retains the warranty.

For a 22" TFT with a native resolution of 1680x1050, the XFX 8800GT 512MB Alpha Dog XXX Edition certainly gave out playable frame rates. I'm sure that this would be the same with higher resolutions too. It is hard to say when the game goes unplayable as others play happily with a FPS of 25 but for others that would already be torture. One has to remember that many of our tests were run with full AA and settings so if you are prepared to go lower from these settings, this card should have a very long lifespan. It is hard to predict what the future games will be like but with the DirectX 10 support and already good price, the 8800GT should find its way inside most gamer's rigs. I just hope that nVidia does all it can to improve the availability of the G92 and the card.
