While the new X5 might have left us bit cold, perhaps the X6 Gaming Keyboard will save the day.
For me personally, the X6 was a surprise. This even though Microsoft have been dealing with keyboards for a long time. Gaming puts the keyboards to different kind of use what the normal office keyboard would experience. This calls for different approach in terms of functionality and usability. Let us see how the newcomer fairs up.
SideWinder X6 Gaming Keyboard

Bright red box continues the tradition, nothing wrong there.

Keyboards are not normally bundled with a lots of additional items but on the other hand, they usually ship as a once piece. This time we have a X6 keyboard with a separate number pad, a driver CD and couple of quick start guides.

Separate number pad? I think that the idea is great. With this design,
Microsoft found a way to please the majority of users. Many gamers want to
play with the narrowest keyboard possible while others want more buttons to the
left side of the WASD configuration. And then there are these that want to use
a regular keyboard as they do a lot of spreadsheet work etc. with the same
computer as they play games with (are there such people?! ;) ).
