3-Year Limited Warranty
As for the specifications, there are some things that pop out from the midst of the huge numbers. The BlueTrack technology is yet another method of providing the most accurate tracking, and is supposed to give an edge over the older optical and laser mice. Seven programmable buttons is all nice and impressive. Three interchangeable mouse feet out of the box gives some extra value, and the three-year warranty is a nice touch.
Bundle
The X8 is a wireless mouse, so the package includes a USB receiver, and a single rechargeable AA cell. Beside these there are also the usual user's manual and driver CD, which are both also available via the Microsoft web site.
Cable management
While the receiver appears unnecessarily massive, there's a good reason for this. First of all, it acts as a storage space for two sets of spare skates for the mouse. The cable wrapped around the receiver brings us to one of the innovations of the X8: the recharge cable. While the mouse is wireless, there's a recharge cable for it, so one doesn't have to stop playing when the battery needs to be recharged.
The magnet-headed recharge cable makes me just wonder why such a simple yet extremely handy feature hasn't been made already years ago! And also, why other kind of recharger plugs exist in the first place. The cable is more flexible than normal USB-mouse-cables, as it's only for the power. This means that even while charging, you can't really notice the cable, not even if it gets stuck, as it'll just pop free from the socket.
