The riser wheel

This kind of keylocks were quite common few years back. They make a great power switches too if you are not trying to drive too much current through them. Because the body of the lock is so long I had to make a little riser block to get it fit perfectly to the Pad. Method was the same that I used with my FireWheel mod. Spin a piece of acrylic with column drill to make a smooth ring out from it.

Warming up

Some time ago I was planning on writing a separate mod for making a keyring out of an old TNT1 GPU but decided that it wasn't such a special mod. As a part of this mod it will add a nice little detail to the project.

Someone suggested that the best way to get that chip out from the board was to heat it somehow. I decided to give a heatgun a try and it worked quite nicely.

Drop!... drop!... drop!...

The solderpaste will melt with high temperatures so the GPU literally drops out from the card. Easy and clean method. :)

Finished

Cleaned the GPU with alcohol and found out that almost all of the texts were missing. I'm not sure but perhaps I had tried to lap the surface in the past. :) Made a little hole with Dremel's diamond dust ball and again, everything went smoothly.

Installed

And there it is, a nice looking ignition key for our BreezePad. Hopefully you remember this from the beginning; "don't take this too seriously!" :)

Soldered

Before the final images I wanted to post an image of the electronics. After I took this photo I covered everything with a good amount of hot glue. Seems to me that my early days "SuperGlue™" is slowly changing to hot glue's favor. :)
