This was the first time that all of the computer parts were together. Operating system on the setup is a retail 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Some digital pinball builders commented that 32-bit versions may introduce some lag to the emulators so I selected the safer alternative.

Samsung was kind enough to hand over couple of Full-HD television. The main playing area is going to utilize 32 inch panel and the back glass will have the 22 inch panel.

The panels were not new and the larger one had a "small" defect on it. While the actual photo is total rubbish, the problem is still clearly visible. The red bar running from top of the screen to the bottom should not be there.

This said, this is what one finds when opening almost any of these modern digital televisions (at least the ones that use CCFL as backlight). While opening up the television may sound terrifying to some, it is relatively safe process and the only dangerous parts to one's health are inside the power supply (the right most pcb). You can get yourself killed if you have mains plugged in while messing with the PSU. Even when the set is not connected to the mains, you can still get a nasty shock from the capacitors. So again, DO NOT OPEN UP THE TELEVISION!

I suspected that the red bar might be caused by a faulty connection between the graphics board and the screen panel itself. I removed the two flat cables and re-seated them and gave it one more go...
