22" panel

"We risk our lives so you don't have to!" Continuing our mod we opened the smaller 22 inch television up. This time the PSU is on the left side. Keep your hands away!

I discovered that the installation of this panel would be more difficult. The panel had no screws etc. on it and it was help in place only by the metal frame that housed the printed circuit boards. Nothing that we couldn't handle and I always like a good challenge. ;)

7" panel

Here is the 7 inch screen that will be the digital score display. You may have seen these dotted displays that keep score on some old tables. Not all emulated games use it but I wanted to have a separate screen for this feature as well.

The screen is touch sensitive althought we will not use it in this project. I would have liked to have for example a 10 inch screen on the machine but hey, I had put this aside for a special project several years before so it was time to put it in use.

It doesn't matter what size of the panel is, the basic components are more or less the same. PSU and the controller board was combined to a single PCB, the control buttons were installed to the front frame and the display panel were sandwiched between those.

Checking the panels

I made some temporary stands for the 32" panel. This allowed me to gain access to all the connectors when needed and also allowed me to start configuring the operating system even before the housing for the system were even started.

My mom was actually the first person to play games with this setup. Eventhough there were not much that resembled an actual pinball machine, the excitement and thrill of a pinball game were already there.
