Me and my dad are making the cuts for the glass. Again, there were several options on how to do this but with the tools that we had available to us, the overhead router was the clear choice.
Yes, misuing the router bit. This bit was the only one that allowed us to make deep enough cut from the outside of the machine. We could have done this via inside but the corners would have been much more difficult to finish.
It was easy to widen the gap when needed. If the gap were too narrow, just recalibrate the height of the bit and go around the case again. After couple of goes the glass dropped in perfectly.
Prepping for paint
Prepping the surface for paint. This is the part that I hate the most with plywood. I do like to use wood stain most of the time as the grain of the wood plays to your favour but when you want to have a smooth painted surface, you need to jump through hoops to get it just right.
"Magic of not having enough photos between the building phases". The case is now painted with white. This is also the final color eventhough I had plans on making the case black. The Assembly Summer '11 event was getting near so I didn't have enough time to make another pass with a paint brush. But as it turned out, the white was just perfect color for the machine in the end.
Hinges ready, sliding hardware tray ready and a modder ready -> to the Bat Mob.. installation phase!
