SuomeksiCAT B15Q - rear
I like the large metallic CAT logo at the back. It sits really well with the texture of the rubberized cover. In this phone, the texture is both an aesthetic and a functional design feature. It looks great but also allows for a better grip when either the hand or the phone gets wet.
On the bottom part of the back cover one can spot a latch that is used to make the seal between the phone and the cover as tight as possible.
On top part of the back panel is the 5 megapixel autofocus camera and the led flashlight. Next to these there is a grill for the speaker.
Size comparison
From the left; Samgung Galaxy Trend, CAT B15Q, Samsung S2+ and the Samsung NoteII LTE. Closest match is with the S2+. After using the CAT phone for a while, the S2+ feels more of a toy than a phone. Different target groups need different kind of products and CAT certainly knows its target audience very well.
B15Q is quite a lot thicker than the Galaxy Trend but this only proves the point that the CAT's offering is packing some real padding and protection to the innards of the phone. Protection that the Trend does not even need... again, different target groups.
All in all, a very "manly" sized phone. All the design clues that tries to indicate this being a ruggedized device do work and the overall feeling in your hand confirms this assessment.
