"See to Believe"

OK or NOT?

As I pointed out earlier, the ATX power connector have several lines connected together in parallel. EZ Power Supply Tester is designed to take the easy way out and connect all these lines together on the tester side too. This way you have no way of knowing if there is something wrong with individual power line. In this test I removed over the half of the wires and the unit still reads OK. Are you happy with the result that the unit gave us?

Conclusion

PROS
  • Cheap
  • Easy to use
  • Compact

  • CONS
  • Does not test individual wires
  • No volt metering on power lines
  • No SATA power test
  • If you are looking for the most basic ready made tool to test your PSU with, EZ Power Supply Tester might be just for you. If you work in the field of computer repairs or something similar that requires high quality process and low tolerance for errors, EZ Power Supply Tester is not for you. With this said, I believe that the most of the target group of the product will be 100% happy with its operation. It offers simple way of determining if the PSU is giving out very roughly what it is supposed to.

The unit does not provide you with information per wire and it doesn't make voltage measurements. The leds will shine with equal brightness for example when the +12 volt line is only 9 volts. There is no protection against crossed wires or short circuits so if your PSU is truly broken and will give out something else than expected, you can prepare yourself for a shopping trip to get a new tester to replace the one that burned out.

So, if your PSU is fine, this tester will indicate just that. If the supply if broken in one way or another, EZ Power Supply Tester will give you very little information on what is wrong. In the worst case, the tester itself can get damaged in the process. In my opinion the low price doesn't justify the low usability of this product. Hopefully we will see new and better models in the future that might cost bit more but will offer more usefull information about the state of the Power Supply Unit.
