The first step after plugging the drive in and starting it for the first time is actually locating it in the network for the first time. For this WD has a program called Discovery. Just launch the program and it searches for network drives. Just click "Configure" here to start making the necessary settings.
Settings
After finding the right drive, you can log in to the browser-based settings menu.
Now basically you could just start using the World Book straight away, there are some default shared folders already out-the-box, but it's always a good idea to atleast change the admin password and give a look at the settings available. For less confident users there's a basic menu, but we of course took a dive straight into the advanced menus.

Click for larger image.On General Setup sheet there are the settings for device name, description, time zone and also for automatic NTP-updating.
Network sheet and IP-settings. Beside the IP-settings there's also a settin for MTU frame size, which can be used to enhance the transfer speeds on large files.
