Quake III ArenaVersion 1,17, demo001, Highquality
Unreal Tournament 2003Version 2225, HardOCP UT2k3 Benchmark utility v2.1, CPU test

I included few other i865PE results on graphs as well as an AMD result. All tests were driven at default clocks. Memory settings are set to 2-2-2-5 and "PAT" features are turned on (except on Albatron which refused to set "PAT" on on this system). Next list shows accurate FSBs of test boards.

  • Asus P4P800: 199,9 MHz
  • Epox 4PDA2+: 199,5 MHz
  • Albatron PX865PE ProII: 200,0 MHz

WinRAR 3.10

Albatron clearly suffers because it has no "PAT" features enabled.

CDex 1.50

CDex 1.50 is mainly processor dependent and there is no big differences as expected.

PCMark2002

PCMark2002's memory test shows performance differences clearly. Albatron could not compete against "PAT" enabled motherboards.

SiSoft Sandra 2003

Unworking "PAT" really makes difference.

Superpi 8M

Unreal Tournament 2003

3DMark2001SE

Quake III Arena

Results indicate that Albatron PX865PE Pro II is a little slower than other i865PE motherboards. This is mainly due unworkable "PAT" on our test hardware. No reason to worry yet, let's look overclocked performance.

OC Tests

  • FSB: 290 MHz
  • Video card: GeForce Ti4200 64 MB

I drove OC test at 12x290MHz (3480MHz), which was maximum stable FSB where test could be ran on all boards. Asus and Epox could do over 300Mhz but Albatron wouldn't boot over 295MHz. Epox was also only motherboard that could do over 300Mhz 5:4, so I included Epox results at that multiplier.

WinRAR 3.10

CDex 1.50

PCMark2002

Superpi 8M

Albatron couldn't beat Asus or Epox and it was worst overclocker of the pack. Most interesting is that Albatron even market that PX865PE Pro II is unofficially 300MHz capable but I couldn't get it that high. I have feeling that if BIOS problems are solved we have here fast and very good overclocking motherboard but now it is certainly not.

Conclusion

Albatron PX865PE Pro II

+ External appearance
+ Top features
+ Stability

- Low Vcore settings
- Overclockability
- Performance
- BIOS

Albatron PX865PE Pro II is interesting motherboard. Its features are top quality and especially I liked Intel 82547EI ET LAN CSA network controller and VIA Envy24PT based audio solution. So if performance and overclocking is not your top priorities but features and external appearance are, Albatron PX865PE Pro II is your best choice. In addition to that it has even three year limited warranty.

I already mentioned weakest points of the motherboard but there is still one thing that everyone should try to remember; it is memory compatibility. I had problems to get my Kingston HyperX PC3500 memories to work during tests and I know that many have this kind of problems with different memories and motherboards. So at least pay attention to this matter. And if Albatron fixes BIOS problems, PX865PE Pro II's overclocking capability and performance will surely raise to next level. Price of Albatron PX865PE Pro II is a little bit higher than most other i865PE boards but you get what you pay for.
