In Use
I simulated a little drizzle and all though the fabric did absorb water, it didn't feel wet on the other side. Even though the water didn't go through, it's still not encouraged to use the Tusko in a heavy rain for long periods of time without putting it inside a plastic bag. Also the keyboard straps and all of the pockets are outside the bag, so your other equipment would get quite wet.

The clip system is surprisingly good. Packing up the peripherals couldn.t be much easier. It took me less than a minute to get my TFT, keyboard and mouse in place, even though putting the keyboard in place can be a bit tricky if the monitor is already in.

Strangely enough, I was able to fit my 22 inch wide screen monitor inside without any problems. With the 22 inch Asus the hard plastic covered almost everything up and the bag itself covered the rest.
In theory carrying the Tusko full of equipment should not hurt, but to be honest it is a bit painful sometimes. The other side of the pad is made of rubber, so it won't slip or slide off, which is a very nice feature. Overall it feels quite good and the base of the monitor doesn't hit your leg.
Conclusion
The Roccat Tusko doesn't have much competition, except a similar model from SpeedLink, but as far as I can tell the Tusko is more practical. Also the Roccat Tusko keeps all of its promises. It offers safety and some useful features for LAN party trips. It's not the most comfortable of things in the world, but what can you expect. It's a carrier for the monitor, mouse and keyboard and all the weight is on the users shoulder. The problem is the same as in most of notebook satchels with big and heavy laptop, so if you're fine with those, you'll have no problem with this. Also bigger model of this should make everyone happy. In future I'm hoping to see more LAN bags. I'd also like to see a backpack version, meant to carry a computer case or a monitor. The case backpack and the Roccat Tusko would be an invincible combo, and even now I'd recommend getting this bag if you're struggling to get all of your equipment to a party. |
