40 nm Cypress

GPU-z screenshot shows that's going on inside the 40 nm Cypress chip, and also the differences compared to the ATI reference HD 5850. Sapphire has upped the core clock speed from the original 725 MHz up to 765 MHz, and also the memory clock from original 1000 MHz to 1125 MHz (4500 MHz GDDR5). Now that's already a nice jump from the reference clocks, but lets see if there's any room for further clocking.
Overclocking

There's so little room for overclock on the Catalyst Control Center we used the AMD GPU Clock Tool instead. Despite being a factory overclocked model, there proved to be lots of headroom left for further clocking. We pushed the core speed up to 850 MHz, which is a nice 85 MHz gain over the stock speed and 125 MHz over the reference clock speed. The memories went up by 75 MHz to 1200 MHz (4800 MHz GDDR5). Gains like these should definitely also show in the benchmarks.
