Tests

Well, what can you say? Seasonic Super Tornado 350W beats many other 'silent' power supplies fair and square. There isn't any disturbing sounds like in so many power sources. The fan rotates smoothly and the only sound you can hear is the whirring sound of air when it goes through fan grills. You can hardly say if the power supply is powered up or not.

Dr. Cable kit is also a great invention from the manufacturer. It surely helps to clear the wire jungle inside the computer and this way improves looks and especially air flow inside the case.

Used components while testing:
ProcessorAthlon XP 1900+
Memory512MB DDR333
Hard driveSeagate Barracuda 7200.7
Display adapterAti Radeon 9000Pro

Benchmarks were made by using system above. Voltage measurements were made by motherboard sensors and multimeter for achieving more accurate results. The load tests were made by running 3dmark03 several times one after another.

Motherboard monitor Idle

Motherboard monitor Load

The idle line voltages are quite great. As you can see, the +3.3V and +5.00V lines tumbles only a few hundredth. The +12.00V line gets along pretty good also. A slight irregulariry on that though.

The load line voltages are fine too. The +3.3V and +12.00V lines waves the least and the +12.00V the most like in idle voltages. It's still good remember that measurements made by mother board sensors are not very accurate.

Multimeter (+12.00V) Idle: 12.29-12.30V Load: 12.30-12.36V

Multimeter (+5.00V) Idle: 5.04-5.05V Load: 5.02-5.04V

The voltages measured by multimeter are just superb. Idle voltages waves just one hundredth. The load voltages gets along pretty good too. Only a little irregularity on that too.

Conclusion

Seasonic Super Tornado 350W

PROS
  • Stable voltage lines
  • Silent
  • Bundle

  • A power source is propably one of the most important devices of a computer which affects crucially how other devices work and how well. A computer equipped with bad power source is usually very unstable and if the power source breaks down it can harm the whole system. Good-quality power sources costs quite a lot but they are usually silent and durable besides the features mentioned above.

Choosing a power source is usually very challenging because of very big markets. It's not recommendable to buy the cheapest model but wasting money to most powerful possible is also quite useless. It's essential to find a good-quality and beneficial product.

Expectations about Seasonic Super Tornado 350W were really high and during the tests it proved itself worth it. Seasonic Super Tornado 350W is reliable partner for everyone who respects stability, silence and raw power. And what it comes to its bundle, there's not even a single bad word to say. It costs about 100 dollars, but as usual, you have to pay to get quality. Seasonic Super Tornado 350W is a good investment though and its three year warranty redoubles it.
