Modding the screen

Every mobile phone has a screen and we will continue the trend here. I decided to use a 128 x 128 pixel OLED module from 4D Systems. It offers the ability to control the module directly from the PC or by scripting a slideshow to a memory card where it is automatically executed from.

Cutting an opening to the handset so that I can take the memory card off and reprogram it at will.

OLED module seated inside the handset. Now only thing left to do with it is to hook it up to the rest of the system.
Lighting

I'm about to cut away the right hand side of the circuit board. It houses the control electronics for the old LCD screen and we will not be needing it any longer. Just left to the cut line are the status leds and the photoresistor that used to indicate the amount of ambient light. This so that the handset was able to switch the backlighting on and off as needed.

Couple of resistors and solders made sure that the leds will be lit constantly. Power will be taken from the USB hub that will be located inside the handset.
Handset finished

All the pieces are installed and the wirings are done! Now I just need to get the damn thing to close!
