HD 7850

On the other end of the card is the single 6-pin power connector annoingly hidden underneath the fan shroud. Thanks to the 28 nm process the TDP-value of the card is only 130 W despite all those 2,8 bn transistors hiding inside the GPU. Just like with the last launches the performance-per-watt has supposedly seen a huge improvement.

All the memory chips are located on the front side of the card, under the cooler, so there isn't much to see on the back side. The fairly light cooler and its fan shroud are held in place with just four spring-loaded screws.

With the cooler removed we get a glimpse at the bare PCB, which has nothing to do with the reference design. The 2 GB’s of memory are made up of eight 256 MB GDDR5-chips running at the reference clock speed of 1200 MHz (4,8 GHz GDDR5). The cooler itself is a fairly simple model with a copper base and aluminum fins.
