Intro

Solid-state drives have made their breakthrough, and now with the prices of traditional hard drives being sky high they are a really tempting option for anyone building a new setup. Last time we had a look at SSDs the both drives were manufactured by Corsair, but now we finally have a competitor from another manufacturer - Verbatim. Let's find out how the Verbatim stacks up against the Corsairs.

The Verbatim SSD comes in a very plain white box with only the most important features, capacity and a picture printed on it. Unlike the earlier drives we've reviewed, this one is of the S-ATA II-variety, which already sets limitations to the maximum transfer speeds.

Also the bundle is very minimalistic, there's only the SSD and a quick installation guide included in the retail box. Then again, the only extras I can think of are a data cable and a mounting adapter, the first of which are included with the motherboards and the latter isn't really needed with just about all new cases having native support for these 2,5" drives.
