Taking things apart

I ordered couple of SPs online. They are not terribly expensive and usually the original battery still works just fine.

Make sure you select the right model. The AGS-101 is the later model with more advanced back lit screen. The original, AGS-001, had a front lit screen and it is a lot dimmer and not as crisp as the new one.

Be careful to remove all the screws. Most of them are visible from the rear but you need to remove the battery cover and the battery to access all of the screws.

Once you have the back cover off, continue by removing the screws holding down the motherboard.

The screen and the motherboard are connected together with a flexible cable. Try to be gentle with it and do not bend or twist it too much or it will break.
Detach the cable by pulling the two small tabs down with a screw driver or something similar. Again, be careful and do not damage the cable in the process.

Now you should have the two main components free from the case.
