The R.A.T.5 comes with a bit more bundle as there are now also adjustable weights included. Other than that it's the same fliers, manual and driver CD.

Looking from the top the 5 looks very much like the 3, but now there's also a thumb wheel, and at the back of the mouse you can see the screw that holds the adjustable weights in place.

The base is made from aluminum and looks even more airy than the base of the 3. Again the sensor is in the middle and there are six glide pads, but now you can also see the spring-assembly that holds the extra weights in place. Under that you can also see the mechanism for adjusting the palm rest.

 

Weight system

The extra weight system of both 5 and 7 works exactly the same way. On the rear of the mouse there's a screw and a spring that hold the weights in place. Undo the nut and you can add the number of round weights wanted and tighten the nut back in place.
