The autumn is here and so are bearable ambient temperatures, so it was time to run the temperature
tests all over again. This time around we chose the two best performing coolers from the last review
- Thermalright MUX-120 and Noctua NH-D14 - and used the Phanteks PH-NDC thermal grease when
installing all the three coolers.
There we have it, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE is the highest performance air cooler we've reviewed so
far! The difference between it and the Noctua is 2,5°C, with the Thermalright MUX-120 another 0,25°C
behind.
The Phanteks cooler doesn't take the first place by having powerful fans, either, because the 1200
RPM fan speed is identical with the Noctua cooler. The fans may be a touch louder than the ones on
Noctua, but to see how much effect the fans had, we also tried the Noctua with the Phanteks fans, and
it only did 0,75°C better in the loaded test, so the PH-TC14PE still beat it by 1,75°C.

This was the first product of the new manufacturer, and what an entry to the market it is! They've
really done their homework with the cooler, because there really is nothing to improve. In
performance it's competing with the best air coolers on the market today, the installation is
straight forward and the bundle includes everything one could ask for. As a nice added bonus the
cooler also comes in different color options to please everyones eye.
Really the only thing to say is that I really hope Phanteks to be quick to also bring some GPU-
and other coolers to the market. Well done!
