Making the cabinet

As with so many previous projects I didn't make any proper plans. I had the motherboard and the screen from the Game Boy so I came up with the measurements based on them. Design follows the classic pattern of an arcade cabinet.

Material selected for the build was 6 mm thick baltic birch plywood. To make the finishing work easier, I opted to use one with a film on. This way I do not need to fill and sand the uneven surface of the plywood.

I roughened up all the areas that would need to bond with the glue. Any low grit sandpaper will do.

Be sure to make all the inside cuts before gluing the parts together. Here I'm cutting a pocket for the joystick.

All the major holes are easier to cut before gluing as well.

Use your favorite glue that is meant for wooden parts to join the pieces together.

Wait 24 hours and you should have a shell of an Game Boy Arcade machine.
