The single fan that comes with the case is a blue led model specified at 12 V 0,16 A (1,92 W). It has a three-pin fan controller for RPM-info and speed controlling, but also comes with a molex power adapter. In use the fan is very quiet, which makes me look forward to the thermal testing even more.

Temperatures

We loaded the case with our Phenom 965 BE C3 and HD 5850-test rig and fired it up. The ambient room temperature has hit 30 C during the summer, so again the results can't really be compared with any of the earlier case review temperatures. Instead they serve as the absolute maximum for a build like this.

With just a single fan on the system and with the room temperature hitting 32 C, it got pretty toasty inside the case, but still everything remained stable throughout the Furmark + Intel burntest load. Considering the ambient temperature these temps are surprisingly low, with only the motherboard temperature being significantly out of line with earlier results.

Conclusion

PROS

  • Bundles with only one fan
  • No dust filters
  • Flimsy construction
  • Award
    Bronze Award!

The market is filled with various gaming cases, so the Elite 430 Black is against some serious competition. The big question is, can it stand from the crowd. Overall it's a reasonably competent newcomer to the budget class. First of all it looks pretty nice with its flat black paintjob and interior and side window. There's also plenty of holes for optional cooling fans, which will come handy when the case is loaded with some gaming hardware. It's also extremely light for a steel case, which is handy for LAN-goers.

Unfortunately it doesn't come without its flaws. First of all, while there's plenty of fan holes for optional cooling, only one fan comes as stock. Another flaw is the lack of dust filters. The light weight also comes with a cost and overall the case just doesn't feel awfully sturdy. For example my budget-favorite, the Antec Three Hundred weights half more, and it's easy to tell where the extra weight has gone.

Overall then, it's a cheap case which can handle even the longest graphic cards, is light to carry around, but comes with a bit too many downsides.
