Testing the Metku MAME out at home. Had to see if the cabinet survived the trip back.
Conclusion
There you have it - one completed arcade cabinet. A desktop version this time as I do not have enough room at home for a full size
one.
I hope that this will spark interest and we will see several new cabinets born by our readers hands. The process is not that difficult
and the hardware needed is not that powerfull. The emulators and the games they run will work nicely with older hardware too.
But don't get me wrong, the costs will add up. For example high quality buttons alone are something like 2 euros a piece. The joystick
was bit over 20 euros and the control PCB something like 45 euros. You can avoid some of these costs by using for example some old
keyboard as donor device and joystick and buttons can be harvested from old gaming controllers. But when you want something as bad as this,
you'll find the way to make it happen!
